:: FAQs

What kind of screening does NOVASTAR PREP do before selecting a tutor?
Extensive screening is performed on each potential tutor before they are ever hired by NOVASTAR PREP.  Our first step is to explain the high standards NOVASTAR PREP expects from our tutors and the level of commitment required.  We then go on to assess their appearance, deportment and comportment to guarantee a level of professionalism.  We collect proof of experience, degree status and letters of recommendation.  NOVASTAR PREP tutors must have at least a Bachelors Degree and have at least three professional references which are thoroughly verified along with a complete criminal background check.  Only 10% of Tutors applicants are then asked to join NOVASTAR PREP.

How do you know the right tutor to match with me and my student?
A professional NOVASTAR PREP consultant will meet with you and your student before assigning a specific tutor.  At that time a joint decision will be made as to the best possible tutor available for your individual needs and circumstances.

In what subjects do you offer tutoring?
NOVASTAR PREP offers a wide array of tutoring.  From Pre-K to College and professional level exams.  NOVASTAR Prep also provides one-on-one instruction in many foreign languages.  (Please see the list of provided services)

How frequent are the tutoring sessions, and how long are they?
At the time that you meet with your personal NOVASTAR Prep consultant you will decide on what works best for you and your student.  Whether it is one 1 hour session a week or more NOVASTAR PREP tutors are prepared to work with you to achieve maximum learning.  As  the learning process continues you are free to add extra time as needed.

Where can the tutoring sessions take place?
NOVASTAR PREP can take place in your home or in a location of your choice. The choice is yours.

Do I need to purchase educational materials or resources for the tutoring sessions?
Tutoring is based on your students textbooks and school curriculum. If your student requires additional educational resources, the tutor will talk with you directly and provide suggestions on materials that can be purchased.

How will I stay informed about what’s happening in the tutoring sessions?
Your NOVASTAR PREP tutor  will check in and check out with you each tutoring session. This will allow you to share any new developments or goals and will allow the tutor to keep you informed about the progress your student is making.

How can I measure the results?
There are many ways to measure the results: but one of the very best ways is in gauging your students confidence level in their required skill.  NOVASTAR PREP encourages parent involvement and will give you suggestions on ways to measure your results.
